RAJIV GANDHI EXCELLENCE Award to CHITAH YAJNESH SHETTY for his contribution to the society through promoting Martial Arts and initiating 'Nirbhaya' A Women Empowerment and Training program for Women - in partnership with Times Foundation



Mr. Chitah Yajnesh Shetty was awarded an honor of 'Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award' for his commitment and work towards promoting the Martial Arts among youth, training and conducting special workshops for Street Children and Senior citizens and launching a nation-wide initiative 'Nirbhaya' - A Women Empowerment and training program - in partnership with Times Foundation.

Times Foundation has played a key role in envisaging and facilitating the program and now the program is being rolled out jointly in Chattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and some other states. Through more than 31 local state bodies ofchitah Jeet Kune Do, the Nirbhaya initiative is gaining huge popularity day by day. The program is a non-commercial module and has been launched to create a social impact by making the women of our society fearless - which is the meaning of Nirbhaya.

The core objective of the program is inculcating Self confidence, imparting Self Defense techniques, promoting Healthy lifestyle and boosting the Career opportunities amongst the women of our society, which is the need of the hour due to the increasing incidents of crime against women in our society.

The Nirbhaya Initiative was conceived during one of the meetings with Times Foundation and was launched early this year. The first phase of Nirbhaya was jointly launched by Times Foundation and chitah Jeet Kune Do from Chhattisgarh. Chitah Yajnesh Shetty and Times Foundation are jointly launching it in other states like Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujrat, Maharshtra and Uttranchal very soon.

With the ever dedicated instructors and passionate students, rising crime against women, petty incidents to grieved situations could be the reason that government authorities also have started issuing circulars and instructions to make Martial Arts compulsory in every school.

Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award event also had awardees as:
